Gynecomastia correction

Gynecomastia is the condition in which a man develops breasts with a volume that more closely resembles a female body type.

Trivia

Heredity, hormonal disorders, and taking certain medications are some of the reasons why gynecomastia appears in some men.

The results after surgery are usually permanent. However, the problem may reappear (in whole or in part) if the patient gains weight.

Recovery time is 15 days (most people return to their activities approximately 2 weeks after surgery).

The plastic surgeon ensures that the scars are well hidden in the normal folds of the skin.

The result improves continuously for several weeks after the operation. At approximately 3 months the patient can see the final image.

Who is it suitable for

Candidates for the operation are men who have a gynecomastia problem for any reason (e.g. heredity), but also men who have lost a lot of weight and have excess skin and glandular tissue in the chest area. Depending on the extent of the problem, the correction can be done in two ways: a. Liposuction, b. Surgical Removal.

Gynecomastia Correction with Liposuction

It is performed under local anesthesia or sedation, and is almost bloodless (it is done with thin cannulas that absorb the fatty tissue through small incisions in the skin). It is chosen for patients without an extensive problem (limited excess skin, small to moderate excess of fatty and/or glandular tissue).

Gynecomastia Correction with Surgical Removal

The surgery can be performed under local anesthesia and sedation or under general anesthesia, depending on the case. Recovery takes approximately 7 days – the patient returns to work in a week – while after a month he can gradually return to all his activities, including physical exercise.
