Blepharoplasty

Plastic Surgery

Blepharoplasty

A procedure that restores the youthful appearance of the skin around the eyes and makes the look more rested and visibly younger. During blepharoplasty, excess skin that weighs down the area above and below the eye is removed and fat is removed from the corresponding areas. Excess skin and fat give the feeling of bags, dark circles and a tired, aged face. With the removal, the youthful appearance of the area is restored, sometimes to a truly impressive extent.

Trivia

This surgery is performed not only for aesthetic, but also for functional reasons.

The incisions are not visible (they are hidden in the natural folds of the eyelids).

You can return to your daily life in about a week.

It is chosen, among other things, for opening the eyes and removing dark circles.

Who is it suitable for

Blepharoplasty can be performed on adults, men and women of any age, who are concerned about their appearance, or whose excess skin is causing them problems in this area.

The operation

Of the various techniques available for this procedure, the most appropriate one for you is decided by Dr. Manoloudakis. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia and/or general anesthesia, lasts from 45 minutes to 2 hours, and you are discharged immediately, within the same day.

After the operation

In the first few days, it is normal to have swelling or some bruising at the site, which will subside over time, while the stitches are removed in 5-7 days. For the first month after the operation, you should not lift weights, bend over abruptly, and avoid the gym. It is also a good idea to protect your eyes from exposure to the sun and strong wind.

General Postoperative Instructions
  • Patients should refrain from lifting weights >10 kg and exercising/exercising for 4 weeks.
  • It is normal to have swelling and bruising, which gradually subside in the first 6 weeks.
  • Most patients return to their activities after approximately 1-2 weeks, depending on the type of surgery (upper or lower blepharoplasty, etc.)
  • The stitches are usually removed in the first 7 days.
