Trivia
Dr. Manoloudakis can correct congenital developmental abnormalities (i.e. deformities that appear from birth), as well as acquired abnormalities (problems after birth) such as an injury.
The three most common cases treated with this particular procedure are large (macrotia), protruding (protruding ears), and asymmetrical ears.
There is also the possibility of correcting the earlobes (e.g. after an accident or in cases of deformation due to heavy earrings). It is performed under local anesthesia, is almost painless and gives a permanent result.
This surgery is one of the few that can be performed even on young children, if there is an indication. Healthy individuals of any gender and age, from five years of age and older, can have this surgery, as long as they can follow the instructions for proper recovery.
Depending on the age of the patient, the operation can be performed under local anesthesia and sedation or under general anesthesia. It lasts approximately 2 hours and the patient returns home the same day.
Recovery takes approximately fifteen days, and the patient returns to their daily lives immediately, however, as with any similar procedure, it is recommended to avoid strenuous activities for a few weeks. As for the result of the procedure, it is usually immediate, and lasts over time.
