Arm lift
A surgical procedure that restores the so-called bat wings, that is, the excess skin and loose tissue on the arms, a spot that often betrays age. Loss of tone in this area is characteristic of older people, and mainly affects women. Finally, this problem can appear after significant weight loss (in this case, regardless of age).
Trivia
As with any cosmetic procedure, it is important to have realistic expectations: this point is one of the most difficult and improvement is achieved to a certain extent.
Brachioplasty can be performed on people of any age, however the more well-cared for the skin, the better the final result will be.
Suitable candidates for this procedure are people who experience fluctuations or significant weight changes over time, people who, despite systematic physical exercise and proper nutrition, do not have the desired results in the arm area, as well as people who have excess skin in the area due to their construction, without necessarily being overweight.
It is performed either under sedation and local anesthesia or under general anesthesia depending on the case. The incisions are usually hidden in the natural crease of the armpit, while in more extensive procedures, on the inner surface of the arm. Liposuction can also be performed at the same time as the operation if this is required for the best possible result.
A special elastic bandage is placed and should remain in place for a few weeks. The bandage will minimize local swelling and provide additional support and protection to the arm area. Based on Dr. Manoloudakis’ experience, most patients return to their daily lives and work immediately, after 2-3 days. However, caution is recommended and intense physical exercise is not allowed for about 3-4 weeks.
